I'd try to refrain from screaming, "FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL" in a Nemo voice but I don't have to bc it's my blog and I do what i want. shabooyah.

Today was day one of the masters program at MC. My new roomie (who is awesome) and I went to Med Phys 1 and sat there WITHOUT coffee. anti-Fun fact, the professor doesn't allow anything but water in a clear bottle. ugh. kick me in the face. The class was only from 8-10 so I came home right after, caught up with K, and made some brekky for lunch. It was delicious. I'm still laughing at my "Oh, grate" tea towel.

first impressions of the class:

Sat down with my set of colored pens, colored highlighters, binder with printed notes, and water bottle a' rearin' ta' go.

Med Phys 1 pre-notes

Prof walked in and said, "time is officially 8:00a.m. time to begin page 1." I was like, does he not want to know a fun fact about me? Maybe, where I'm from or why I'm taking this class? Nope. guess it's not that sort of thing. :/ He did teach the material in a way that was engaging and from obvious knowledge so i appreciated the time. He didn't read off the power point, hold a piece of chalk in his teeth like a cigarette, wear flip flops showing off an extra toe, or have an indiscernible foreign accent. Yes, i have had experiences with all such teachers.

Came home, still tired from not having any coffee (took a whole 3 minute drive). Decided to try to make coffee out of espresso grinds in a french press. Hey, that's what i have to work with at the moment. Getting my espresso machine tomorrow, promise. In case you were wondering, no, that didn't work out well and I ended up angrily drinking my tainted water and hoping some grinds got into my bloodstream. I guess it somewhat worked bc it is 9pm and I'm still awake. Ya know, it could've been that piece of dark chocolate i took from the freezer. Nah. theres no way. **lightbulb goes off in head - hey theres more dark choc in the freezer** --------> BRB

I pretty much spent the day studying MP1 and Embryo (which i start tomorrow). I did take two breaks; each to watch an episode of "travelers" which just so happens to be the name of both my favorite album and favorite tv show at this moment in my life. RIP though b/c i just watched the last episode. There is only one season but hopefully the next one comes out soon! Good thing is that I'm forcing Mal to watch it so I'll get to live through it once more with her. Embryo was a joy to study. I found myself having major nerd-outs like woahhhhh that's how that happens and oooohhh who wudda known about that. But it quickly came to a close when I got to chapter 3 where every other word was 20 letters long and 80% vowels. I couldn't even sound it out to read it in my head. Usually i would just make up a nickname of sorts and go along but these words are all so similar.

example A) syncytiotrophoblast vs syncytotrophoblast vs cytotrophoblast vs 5,392 other terms using the same letters but scrambled in a different order.

Now, this is stemming from me trying to be a superstar and understand the 4 chapters we will cover tomorrow before tomorrow actually exists, so that lecture can just solidify topics in my brain. This is a great idea in theory butttt really hard to carry out. I've spent HOURRRSSS already doing this for med phys and embryo. Still trying to figure out if it's moreso wasting my time or really helping me understand concepts. Jury is still out. Need more time to trial and error these study techniques.

My home desk set up😍

I got to FT Mal today which is always a delight. I pretty much bullied her into watching travelers and we started planning her and mads trip here! Two definite must-do's are the popsicle shop and da coffee shop. I lied. Three. We (mal) found a groupon for the distillery here for a tour and souvenir shot glass! woop woop! I really want to go check out the Jackson zoo as well so hopefully we will fit it all in!

I'm not even about to read over this blog post. I've been reading all. damn. day. hopefully it came out coherent and entertaining. If not, I'm really not surprised. Brain is already feeling mushy and I only had my first class 12 hours ago.

Prosit!
