Mallory is here! I am so happy to have a piece of home with me, at last! She also brought with her some Albertsons cookies and a bag of Nestle semi sweet choc chips for which I will be forever grateful.

(1) I have since introduced her to Tim Tams and Taco Friday.

(2)The weather is about to turn really ugly but we were able to squeeze in the scenic Coogee--> Bondi walk yesterday.

(3)I'm giving her a crash course in aussie walking distances (plus hills) and common slang phrases. Aussie 101 in an intensive 3 week course!

Here we are. My first EVER guest blogger entry! This is from the mouth of Mallory herself on her first impressions of Oz land.

Day 1- Fresh off the plane

Well folks, I made it to Australia! After what felt like forever on a plane, I landed in Sydney this morning. My first reaction was holy cow, it is BEAUTIFUL here. There are so many different plants and trees that I've never seen before. And the campus is incredible- a mix of old architectural buildings (think Harry Potter) and interesting modern ones. Everyone I've come into contact with (except for that one really rude chick at Aus customs) is so friendly! And the accents... They make things sound so much cooler! Who knows, maybe they think that about us Louisianians too ;) I have to mention the sun for a second. It's FRICKIN BRIGHT people. Like bright-you-know-what white and in your face. Good for our beach days coming up though! Tomorrow we are going on a hiking trail from Manly Beach to ??? Beach. Im really excited because the girl who sat next to me on the plane is from Sydney and that's the one place she said we had to go to. And last but certainly not least, today was awesome because I finally got to see Brookie, for the first time in forever! Cue bear hugs, crazy amounts of laughter, and more coffee than the law allows. Shout out to her for studying abroad in Australia and giving me a reason to travel!

Day 2- Am I an Aussie now??

So my second day in Aussie land was a TON of fun. We took a bus to Coogee beach and walked a trail from there to Bondi beach. Bondi is the famous beach in Sydney where you can always find way too many surfers out in the water fighting over waves. More power to ya, surf pros. But talk about some gorgeous scenery! The water was SO blue, there were a ton of rock cliffs and formations, and the sun was shining. We lucked out because there was a sculpture exhibit for University of Sydney art students on the beach and trail. So we were walking along the beach, soaking up the spectacular scenery but we also got to enjoy some interesting art. My only regret for the day was the fact that I'll probably never forget the Barbie sculpture, which consisted of a bunch of Barbie dolls all plastered to make a wall (yes you read that right and YES it's the creepiest thing you've ever heard). Getting down to Bondi, we saw people surfing, cool street art, and shops along the strip. After we were finished up we rushed back for Taco Friday, a tradition from some awesome new friends from Norway. It's like Taco Tuesday (obviously) but more intense.... And they didn't disappoint you guys. Oh and ps, we walked literally 12 miles today. Literally. MY FEET HATE ME. Tacos and Tim Tam cookies made it all better though :)
