I wish I could put into words how extremely and undeniable happy I am. I spent the entire day in a grassy field full of sunshine, wonderful friends, and kangaroos. I almost can't even type this up because I am getting all giddy just re-living the day. My hands keep wanting to go into spirit finger-disco-happy-freak out motions.

It was such an amazing day. Ri, Natascha, and I woke up early to catch a two hour train ride. We had a ball telling each other about our home towns and the general differences in living styles all while munching on some capsicum and cashews. The view outside the train windows was mesmerizing indeed. If I would have only experienced the train ride, my day still would have been up in the charts. We were bordered by blue lakes with beautiful white boats docked all over and steep cliffs of the mountain side. Trees beyond your views and tiny, colorful homes had my head cricked to the side in awe. Why is it so beautiful? Why is this my life? I love everyone. I am so happy. I am SO happy.

The train docked and we continued to our 2 mile walk to the kangaroos! The walk was nice. We ventured through an awning of trees while crossing over a couple of small streams. We saw A GIANT ant pile and did many karaoke performances. Birds and forest wildlife, y'all are welcome for the free show. The only downer is that the walk, although picturesque, seemed to stretch on and on and on and on. We were just so excited to see the roos!

I was the only one who had yet to see a kangaroo in person :). I couldn't even finish a sentence.
This place is what I imagine Heaven to be like. The kangaroos are not fenced in or kept by force. They genuinely like being there. **they probably infuse the grass with cocaine** There is an old man who welcomes everyone through and gives a low down on the area. We were told (1)not to feed the kangaroos as they only eat grass, (2) don't follow them into the bush as there are snakes, and (3) they love back scratches. People respect these guidelines - as far as I could tell. I didn't see anyone try to ride one like a horse, lasso one, or yell obscenities sooooooo yeah. Oh and did I mention how much it costs? Zero dollars. That's right. **Just another example of how the best things in life are free.

I genuinely had the time of my life. I walked over to the edge of the field at one point and just sat there, soaking in the moment and thanking God for the events in my life that granted me this adventure. It was 70 degrees, sunny, and the bluest of the blue skies while I was lying amidst an open field with almost a hundred kangaroos jumping around and I just couldn't believe it. I still can't. Just ahhhhhh it was so great. I can't express it. My heart felt as though it could burst. I found myself thinking of "The Grinch". Her heart grew three sizes that day. ;)
Lake Macquarie was about a 3 minute walk across the road so we decided to take a gander. Of course, it was beautiful. The kangaroos were there too! There must love natural wonders as much as I do. I was so into this place that I actually walked straight into the lake. Yes, on purpose. I had my chacos on. Why not get in the lake? I was so Pocahontas in this moment.

We spent our entire day with the roos until we absolutely had to head back to the train station. The walk back was about to be a long and tiring one, until super lady bus driver came to our rescue! A saint of a woman offered to drive us into town so we huddled onto a bus with some local middle schoolers and were able to rest our wittle legs. She dropped us off right in front of the train station. I really love her.

It was then that we realized we were STARVING. The kangaroo lovies had been our only sustenance since 10am and we had walked MILES and MILES. Conveniently enough, we found a little food shop right inside of a town called Morisset. It is here that I had my first ever kebab. Kebabs, you have a fan in me. This thing was soooooo good that I slept the whole first hour of the train ride home in a delightful food coma of joy.

idk about this...

oh wait

this is the best thing ever!
** i have a zillion pics. stay tuned on fb for an album dedicated to this trip!
